And so I decided to return to the Land of the Lotus Tweeters, Facebook Likers, StumbleUpon’ers, FriendFeeders, Tumblr Lovers, ETC’ers; Come to find…nothing much has changed. Everyone is still happily gorging on meticulous postings aimed @Luring and securing buyer / seller relationships. Sincerity is flushed down the toilet, along with every other false premise that these web experiences we share are anything other than modern day television ads selling us a bit of salvation.
What this means is: There is NO place you can travel on the information highway, without your maneuvers being monitored. Web transparency as it were, is the only clear path through these tiers and mazes. Every choice you make, every link you click is a potential sale. Social networks are geared around augmented reality being the logical choice, and fully exploiting the core values of your every move. That is, unless you prove yourself unworthy of being followed. In this case, you’ll be free to move unnoticed. Onward.
“If you buy into nothing, you are worth nothing in return. If you do not play along, then you are considered socially inept. Bullshit doesn’t sell itself, and time runs on currency. You owe big time – So on, and so forth.”
It is an issue of how valuable you are as potential customers to these marketing purveyors and their unending queries. The more impeccable your online tastes and preferences; the more you will be sought after as specimen prototype by which these very social structures are built upon. Hence, prepare to be hunted if you are exceptionally professional about sniffing out the good shit online. Expect for someone to come knocking on your back door for the key to enter. Expect the media cults to know your ip. Expect them to follow all of your updates.
“Spend. Spend. Spend. Spend more!”
Tracking digital trails has become a way of life for these social media guru types to plan their startup ventures – So, if you are living predominantly online, and are somewhat interesting, or impulsive in your spending / viewing habits, then you will not be capable of hiding from those who seek to exploit the fuck out of everything you ‘like’ for monetary value. Therefore, “NO” still remains the most powerful weapon in existence. See how this works?
Unfortunately this can also be very bad for the economy to completely resist every hard sell to arrive. So what is a person to do? Don’t fucking ask me! I still buy shit too! Though, perhaps it is a call to be more conscious of our buying habits? Don’t buy everything we want? Buy only what we need? Sounds reasonable, right? Lessgo…
“Virtual prey. Herders of cash. Exploiters of industry. Cliff dwellers teetering the brinks of bankruptcy. Simulated audiences addicted to the consumption of self. Victims generated by memetic pursuits and those seeking to rule the web. Simply and effectively phrased: Everyone is searching for a route to riches, via the www. In the end, everything revolves around money – And, if your wallet is empty? You do not count. Oops! But, that is another story altogether…”
DISCLAIMER: As was exhibited in the diatribe above…storytelling can also serve as a viable source for learning :) But remember, I only write these fictional accounts of censure as traveling companions to my collage art. So, take the words for their personal worth, and stay safe out there, folks!
